Neighborhood Watch
SHHA Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program which enlists the active participation of Sunset Hills residents in cooperation with Thousand Oaks law enforcement to reduce crime in our communities. Started locally in 1983, our Neighborhood Watch program encourages our neighbors to get to know each other, taking the time to care about each other and work together in a program of mutual assistance. It involves our residents being trained to recognize and report suspicious activities in the neighborhood, reporting incidents to the Police Dept. for enforcement activities, and to Neighborhood Watch for communication of these incidents to our residents. The Neighborhood Watch Program encompasses three (3) tracts of homes, Contento, Erbes and Greenview. Each tract has specific numbers of streets and each street is subdivided into "blocks" of approximately 15-20 residences with a volunteer Block Captain and Alternate for each block. All streets have Block Captains and some also have Alternates: Contento - 4 streets -approx. 20 Block Captains and Alternates, By staying alert, informed and cooperating with each other and the Thousand Oaks Police Department, we can fight crime before it begins. Report any suspicious incidents to the Thousand Oaks Police Department at 654-9511 or 911 if urgent, AND then call your Block Captain or the Neighborhood Watch Chairperson, Dawn Herweg at 529-9170. |
